Master in Percussion from the Institute of Arts (UNICAMP, 2015) Bachelor in Percussion from the Institute of Arts of UNESP (SP, 2001), graduated from the Tatuí Conservatory (SP 1994). He studied with important percussion masters such as John Boudler, Carlos Stasi, Eduardo Gianesella, Marcos Suzano, Guello, Osvaldinho da Cuíca, Eduardo Contrera, among others.
Percussionist since 1999 and currently head of the section of the Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica de São Paulo, Barros has played with great musicians from the Orchestra such as: Richard Bona, Deep Purple, John Pizzarelli, Dave Liebman, Regina Carter, Toninho Horta, Dori Caymmi, João Bosco and , in other projects that may include Donny McCaslin, Ted Piltzecker, Victor Mendonza, Banda Savana, Banda Mantiqueira, Orquestra Popular de Câmara, Zizi Possi, Toquinho, Zé Renato, Osvaldinho do Acordeon, Carlos Malta among others.
Part of the 'Vana Trio plus Brazilian Percussion' group of the German pianist based in New York, Vana Gierig since 2002 where he has performed at important festivals in the United States, Europe, Japan and Brazil. He develops research work with traditional Brazilian rhythms, having given clinics in several schools in Portugal, Mexico and the United States, England, Finland and Japan.
In 2007 he participated in the 4th International Percussion Festival of Monterrey (Mexico) in a duo work with Rogério Boccato. In 2008 he participated in a tour of 28 concerts in the United States with the Philarmonia Brasileira, with Branford Marsalis as a guest soloist. In 2009 he was at the most important jazz festival in Europe, the North Sea Jazz Festival playing in the group of saxophonist Paquito D'Rivera, winner of the Grammy Awards. In 2010, Barros gave workshops and played at FAJ – Amazonas Jazz Festival, Savassi Jazz Festival (Belo Horizonte) and Villa Celimontana Jazz (Rome), all with 'Vana Trio' and Paquito D'Rivera.
In 2015 he was in Japan for workshops and concerts for the release of the CD “Making Memories” by Vana Gierig with special participation by Paquito D' Rivera, he was also a guest professor at l PERCUSSE held in Aracaju (SE). In 2016 he played at the important PROM'S festival at the Royal Albert Hall with the Big Band of Jazz Sinfônica + OSESP.
He was also in the United States doing 6 workshops where we can include the Manhattan School of Music, New York University both in NY. In addition to the University of Massachusetts and Rutgers University (NJ) among others.
In 2017, he participated in the 1st Brazilian Percussion Congress at Unicamp, where he showed his work on “The use of the tambourine by Mestre Marçal”, the subject of his master’s degree.
In 2019 he was teaching Brazilian Percussion clinics in the United States, England and Finland. She has been a faculty member at Faculdade Souza Lima since 2012.
