With the expressive eclecticism that is the distinctive mark of his artistic and research path, Gabriele Coen presents traditional pieces and original compositions, creating a passionate, unusual, lyrical musical experience through a sonic fabric that draws from jazz, rock, world music, never forgetting the Jewish roots of his inspiration.

After previous experiences with Klezroym, the Roman saxophonist presents some tracks from the first album with this project, "Golem" (2009, Alfamusic Records), and from the two brilliant works with Tzadik, John Zorn's New York label ("Awakening" in 2010 and "Yiddish melodies in Jazz" in 2013). References to "Sephirot," released in 2017 for Parco della Musica Records, will not be missing.

A journey into Jewish music, starting from Yiddish songs and Klezmer sounds—the ancient instrumental music of Eastern European Jews—embracing the Sephardic Jewish universe from Spain to the Mediterranean basin and moving towards the territories of the former Ottoman Empire where once flourishing Jewish communities lived, interpreting their songs and sounds. The journey continues beyond the ocean: crossing the Atlantic to move to the United States, where Jewish melodies have encountered African-American music, giving rise to Jewish jazz.
