Masashi Usui, a professional saxophonist in Canada, will perform on his latest stage.

He moved to Montreal, Canada in 2013 to study at McGill University's Graduate School of Jazz Performance, and has performed with his own quartet and in support at the Montreal International Jazz Festival many times. He is also a lecturer at his alma mater in Canada and is highly regarded as a mentor for younger students.

Since 2020, he has been active in Japan, where he is gaining recognition for his elegant tone and solid expressive ability cultivated through chamber music and orchestral performances. The regular members are Taikou Kikuchi (pf) and Isatsuki Kusui (b). From standard to original music, the richness of the saxophone sound and the charm of the ensemble are sure to be fully enjoyed on stage.

Se mudó a Montreal, Canadá, en 2013 para estudiar en la Escuela de Graduados en Interpretación de Jazz de la Universidad McGill, ha actuado muchas veces con su propio cuarteto y como telonero en el Festival Internacional de Jazz de Montreal.

También es profesor en su alma mater en Canadá y es considerado como mentor para estudiantes más jóvenes.

Desde 2020 está activo en Japón, donde está ganando reconocimiento por su tono elegante y su sólida capacidad expresiva cultivada a través de la música de cámara y las actuaciones orquestales.

2013年からカナダ・モントリオールに移住。McGill大学大学院ジャズ・パフォーマンス科で学び、自身のカルテットやサポートでモントリオール国際ジャズフェスティバルに幾度も出演。カナダの母校の非常勤講師を務めるなど、後進の指導でも定評がある。

2020年からは日本での活動を開始し、その気品ある音色と室内楽やオーケストラでの演奏で培われた確かな表現力で評価を集めている。レギュラーメンバーは菊池太光(pf)
